The Windows Insider Program has received its biggest structural overhaul in years. Microsoft has retired the old four-ring Canary / Dev / Beta / Release Preview system and replaced it with a simplified two-track model: Experimental and Beta. If you were on Canary (29500 series), you are now on Experimental (Future Platforms). If you were on Dev, you are now on Experimental. Beta is broadly the same but more tightly focused on stabilising the next annual release.
Windows 11 Insider Preview is doing great. Download the ISO of any Insider preview build below, or use UUP Dump to build one yourself. Thousands of PCs are already running the latest preview. This article will guide you through getting the Windows 11 Insider Preview ISO on your machine — fully functional and ready for a clean install or in-place upgrade.

What’s new in Build 29599.1000
The latest Experimental (Future Platforms) build — 29599.1000, released May 29, 2026 — is a targeted fix release rather than a feature drop:
- Fixed a false “not connected to the internet” error that appeared when signing into Microsoft accounts inside third-party apps.
- Fixed an issue where Task Manager showed inflated CPU speeds for virtual machines after resuming from hibernate.
- Platform-level changes as part of the ongoing transition to the new active development branch.
⚠️ AMD / System Guard note: Microsoft has identified an internal issue causing crashes on AMD machines that support System Guard. Those devices will not be offered Build 29599 via Windows Update. Wait for the next flight — do not force-install via third-party tools.
What changed: the new WIP channel structure
Microsoft has consolidated its preview rings from four down to two primary tracks. Here is the mapping:
- Experimental (Future Platforms) — the old Canary 29500 series. The most unstable, furthest-ahead builds. Potentially Windows 12-era platform work.
- Experimental (26H1) — 28000-series builds targeting the upcoming 26H1 (fall 2026) feature release.
- Experimental — the old Dev channel. Nearer-term features that are more visible and closer to shipping.
- Beta — the stabilisation track. Best for most testers who want real features without excessive instability.
No clean install is required for existing Insiders — Microsoft is migrating devices automatically. The Canary 29500 series channel transition to the new WIP experience is still in progress as of early June 2026.
Notable features rolling out in recent builds
